Last week, students in our Creative Writing Club produced a range of written works inspired by Refugee Week.
Taking the forms of poems, plays, and short stories, our students put themselves in the shoes of refugees and used writing as a mean of empathising with and understanding their struggles.
We’re proud of what our students have produced. You can use the links below to read any and all of the works for yourself.
- Home by Dylan Quinn
- Detainee by Jack Riley
- Hiraeth by Heather Chandler
- My Dad, The Hero by Kieran Ames
What is Refugee Week?
Refugee Week took place from 19th – 25th June and celebrated the contributions, creativity, and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.
Around Franklin, we marked the week by carrying out awareness raising activities and worked to platform the stories and experiences of refugees, including a screening of the powerful film Human Flow.
