Peter Kennedy, Executive Principal & CEO

Biography

After graduating with a degree in Cell Biology & Biochemistry from the University of York, Pete toured the UK and Europe for two years in a comedy showband. He then undertook teacher training and started teaching Biology at Sheffield College, becoming a senior A level examiner, and co-authoring the associated textbooks for the syllabus. He helped set up Longley Park Sixth Form College where he spearheaded student tracking and monitoring. In recognition of his work, the college was the subject of a ‘Good Practice Guide’ and Professional Development Film commissioned by the FE Development Agency. In 2009, he moved to a senior management position as Deputy Principal at Huddersfield New College, completing a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership in 2010. The college achieved the status of the best institution in the country for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, awarded by the National Centre for Diversity in both 2015 and 2016. Pete joined Franklin Sixth Form College as Principal in 2018 with ambitions to make it the best Sixth Form College in the country. We’d say he’s well on the way.
