This course is perfect if you want to further your studies of Biology by using a different approach from the traditional A level route. The combination of assessment styles will help to develop your confidence and allow you to apply your knowledge to succeed in the workplace. You will develop the study skills you need to be able to continue learning on higher education courses and throughout your career.

You will gain an insight into how human lifestyles and biology impact on the health of a person and populations. You will study the details of important human biological processes, then link them to common health and healthcare issues.


Course Content

You will study a variety of topics covering a range of Human Biology – from microbiology and infectious diseases to the main aspects of the human body, such as the circulatory system, cells, tissues and biological molecules.

All students of Applied Human Biology have the opportunity to join our STEM Career Academy programme.

Your Opportunities

The qualification is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to admission requirements of many relevant applied human biology/health science courses.

When combined with other relevant qualifications, learners can progress onto further study at higher education. Examples include:

  • If combined with Health and Social Care BTEC you could progress onto Occupational Health, Nursing or Midwifery
  • If combined with BTEC Sport you could progress onto Sport Science
  • If combined with A Levels in Psychology and Sociology, for example, you could progress onto Nursing
