When studying this eye-opening course, you’ll explore the impact of social media and technology on language in the present and go back to 950AD to track changes in the attitudes and values of society. Learn how people use language to control and influence others and find out why the ‘Forbidden Experiment’ impacts our understanding of how children learn to speak. You’ll also practise being a professional writer as you learn how to respond to a brief. Step out of the classroom with exciting visits to London and Manchester, inspiring university lectures, and virtual talks from some of the world’s leading linguists.
