Course Content
Studying A level Maths will allow you to experience the satisfaction of analysing and solving complex problems. The course looks at content in much more depth than GCSE, with a greater interest in studying why the mathematics work rather than just performing calculations. The Pure content covers two thirds of the course and introduces exciting topics such as calculus, trigonometry, sequences/series, and exponentials. The applied elements make up the other third of the course, split equally between Mechanics and Statistics. In Mechanics, you will learn about Newton's Laws of Motion, Kinematics, and applying maths to real life contexts through mathematical modelling. In Statistics, you will extend your work at GCSE on averages and probabilities while learning new topics such as probability distributions and hypothesis testing. Throughout the course, you'll use a graphical calculator to solve problems and evolve your mathematical understanding. University visits and guest speakers will provide valuable insights into further study and career opportunities, helping you to see where maths can lead you in the future.Your Assessment
