"I studied at Franklin College between 2008 and 2010, during which time Barack Obama’s rise to political stardom transformed my life trajectory, firmly establishing my interest in current affairs, politics and government. Determined to learn how the world worked, with the quixotic – if not naïve – assumption that by doing so I could help make it a better place, I went on to earn a BA (Hons) Degree in International Relations at the University of Lincoln.
"After graduating I held a number of positions in the Law & Democratic Services Department at North East Lincolnshire Council, before briefly undertaking an internship with the Mayor’s Office of Trade and International Affairs in Houston, Texas. In Houston I prepared a speech for the Mayor, assisted at high level functions and organised and supported a delegation from Moscow City Government. VIP treatment at the NASA Johnson Space Centre, guided tours through Houston’s museums and sitting in on cultural exchanges between elected officials of both Houston and Moscow were extraordinary.
"My experience abroad inspired me to travel to Australia in January 2015. I have since settled here, married a beautiful Aussie and live on the Far North Coast of NSW. I work for Byron Shire Council, just ten minutes away from Byron Bay, as Council’s Corporate Governance Officer. In this role I provide expertise and support for the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of robust governance systems to ensure legislative compliance and promotion of continuous improvement at Council, as well as provide quality services and support to Councillors and meetings of Council."
