Freedom of Information and Freedom of Speech

Franklin College takes its responsibilities with regard to the management of the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 very seriously. This document provides the policy framework through which this effective management is achieved by the college.


Franklin College respects the privacy of every individual who visits our website or responds to our on-line advertising.  This Statement outlines the information Franklin College will collect and how we will use that information.  This Statement will also instruct you on what to do if you do not want your personal information collected or shared when you visit Franklin College website or respond to our advertisements.

Franklin College will only collect information which personally identifies you ("Personal Information") if you provide it to us voluntarily.  This could be your name, address, phone number or e-mail address.

Franklin College will not disclose Personal Information to any third party without your permission unless required by English law or government education department requirements.


We encourage parents or guardians to inform their children about safe and responsible use of their Personal Information whilst participating in on-line activities.  Franklin College does not intend to collect any Personal Information from children under the age of 11.  Franklin College may want to collect Personal Information from children 11-16 years.  When such a child identifies themselves as being within this age bracket, we always incorporate a special notice urging them to get parental consent before providing us with any Personal Information. Where appropriate, Franklin College will specifically instruct children not to submit Personal Information on our websites or advertisements.  If your child has provided us with Personal Information, you can contact us at the address or phone number listed at the bottom of this Statement to have this information deleted from our records.

Examples of this type of information include the type of Internet Browser you are using, the type of computer operating system you are using and the domain name of the website from which you linked to our site or advertisement
