Ofsted Report, Performance and Results

In 2022, Franklin Sixth Form College was privileged to work with Ofsted to pilot the proposed skills updates to the inspection framework for sixth form colleges.

The pilot inspection comprised a week of scrutiny by a full team of inspectors covering all aspects of College provision and also assessing how well the College works with local employers and supports local and regional skills development.

The team were particularly exploring how the college helps students develop the skills and knowledge they need to prepare them for their next steps, whether that is HE, employment, or an apprenticeship.

The new skills-based inspection framework has now been adopted and is running throughout England. Feedback from the inspection team was very positive, indicating that we are well on our way towards achieving an Outstanding judgement.

"Given the uneven impact of the pandemic on school and college performance data, the government has said you should not make direct comparisons between the performance data for one school or college and another, or to data from previous years.”
