Seven of Franklin's film and media students have recently been working closely with The Venue at John Whitgift school to learn the art of being a film projectionist. The training has subsequently acted as perfect preparation for our students who will now take control of all film screenings held on Thursday nights at 7:30pm.
During the course of the collaboration, Franklin's students have also been working hard to develop their marketing strategies where they have studied the influence of social media when reaching a target audience. They have also looked at how to successfully promote an event and how to consistently expand their audience moving forward. As part of this they learned how to edit and construct websites for a specific purpose and audience. In addition, our media students have also obtained an insight into developing film programmes and also received training for various pieces of cinema equipment and software which included how to use projectors to operate film screenings.
This has subsequently led to our students gaining valuable employability skills and will prove to be crucial work experience for our students portfolios. We are therefore looking for even more dynamic volunteers to join our team at The Venue and you can express your interest in this by contacting our media tutor, Jenny Walker at jennifer.walker@franklin.ac.uk
