Last week Franklin Sixth Form College in Grimsby was delighted to welcome Alex Burghart M.P., Minister for Skills together with Lia Nici, MP for Great Grimsby to see the facilities that the College has to offer and meet students and staff.
Alex Baxter, Chair of Governors at Franklin, said: ‘we are very pleased to be welcoming the Minister. We are a College who put students at the heart of everything we do and we work hard to continue providing first-class student experience in all aspects of our College and to positively impact on the community we serve’.
Peter Kennedy, Principal, said ‘we are excited to be able to show the Minister the huge range of courses on offer at the College, from Adult classes in English, Maths and Health and Social care, through Level 2 courses in a range of topics to our Career Ready students who will be participating in one of our regular discussions with senior managers from local and regional businesses.’ ‘Our Humber region has a bright future and its future needs Franklin students. They’re the highly skilled, highly educated and highly motivated young people the region’s employers are crying out for, whether as direct higher apprenticeship entrants or in post-graduate roles.’
Alex Baxter added: ‘We are rightly proud of our position as the best provider for sixth form education in the area and are continuing to play our part in the continuing growth of Northern Lincolnshire as a highly skilled destination of choice for business and industry.’
Minister for Skills, Alex Burghart also shared his thoughts on the College. ‘It was fantastic to see how Franklin Sixth Form College is working with local businesses to help people of all ages get the skills needed to progress into rewarding careers. The college is helping to deliver the skilled workforce of tomorrow via its impressive range of level 2 courses, by helping adult learners to build core skills in maths and English, and by opening doors for students to gain experience in exciting sectors such as the green and media industries.’
We are very excited for the future at Franklin Sixth Form College, both short term and long term, as we host our fantastic STEM and Progression events this week and look forward to the development of our new Immersive Space which will provide students with an engaging and interactive workspace.
Franklin Principal, Peter Kennedy added: 'The work we are doing here at Franklin Sixth Form College is crucial to developing our communities’ skills and providing the local area with the highly skilled and highly educated young students our region needs.
It is because of these continued efforts that we are immensely proud to be recognised as being the best provider in the region.'
