Over the last few months we have reviewed our curriculum offer, working with Higher Education providers and employers to ensure that we are offering the best study programmes with the broadest range of opportunities to our students. From this September, we will be extending our suite of exciting and highly successful vocational options to include a number of Extended Diploma (3 A Level equivalent) routes.
Extended Diploma courses bring learning to life because they are closely related to a range of Higher Education and Work-Related progression opportunities. They are assessed substantially (or even completely) through the completion of assignment work, so helping to develop students’ skills of research, presentation and document production through real-life scenarios. They are particularly suited to students who have good subject knowledge and good practical ability but are less good when it comes to formal examinations.
At Franklin we have subject experts and the finest facilities to bring these courses to life and with our extensive links with employers, training providers and universities, we will ensure that these courses include all of the support, work placement opportunities and enrichment students need to help them move forward positively and reach their very highest potential. We know that students successfully completing these courses will be well placed to go on to a wide range of higher education and work options.
Because the Extended Diplomas are equivalent to 3 A Levels, they make up a full time Study Programme at Franklin College. So students study the subject area in greater depth, conduct more independent research and benefit from high quality contacts with professional experts and workplace experiences.
Developing such skills and expertise is valuable if you want to go to University and every year, many thousands of young people go onto Higher Education from Extended Diploma courses.
