Information for Parents/Carers

At Franklin College we give our students the best start to their Higher Education. Our College is a great place to study with friendly people, excellent facilities and a fantastic learning environment. If you are a parent or carer of one of our students then this is the area you need to visit on a regular basis to keep up-to-date with all the important events that are taking place at Franklin College.

Important information

Attendance

Student attendance is closely monitored and students must account for all absences. Poor attendance may result in the involvement of Senior Tutors, parents/carers and the student.

Holidays

Holidays should not be booked during term time. To aid with your planning, all students will be given a copy of term dates at interview.

Consultation Evenings

Consultation Evenings are a chance for parents/carers and students to meet with Tutors and are held twice yearly. Students will have reviews prior to the evening and the students’ progress will form the discussion on the evening. Careers advice will be available on the night too. This reviewing activity is an integral part of the monitoring of performance which Franklin does with all students and enables students and staff to set targets for improvement.

Progression Evening

Progression Evening is a major calendar event for Franklin College. Over the years parents/carers and students have found it of particular value in planning the next steps after Franklin, whether to University, other forms of Higher Education, Training or Employment. Over the evening, various short presentations on many different topics relating to HE take place and a Careers and Higher Education Fair runs throughout the evening providing an excellent opportunity for gathering information. Last year, over thirty national contributors attended the fair to inform and advise students.
