Over half term a group of our Business students had the opportunity to visit New York City and take in all of the major tourists sites. Staff and students really enjoyed this wonderful experience.
Major highlights of the trip included:
The Empire State Building with clear views of New York in all directions.
The statue of Liberty and Ellis Island tour was brilliant and students enjoyed the view of New York from afar.
Walking through SOHO shopping in 20 degree heat and breath-taking views of NYC from the Rockefeller centre at dusk.
A tour of the financial district which was very insightful by a 3rd generation New Yorker.
Students enjoyed the food and drink on evenings which included ribs, chicken and shrimp in an American style Dallas BBQ Diner.
Students managed to stick together throughout the trip and there was a real team spirit by the end of the trip and memories to last a lifetime.
A great trip all round!
This is what the students had to say.
Mollie James: I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to New York City. I have previously visited the USA a lot before going on the NYC trip however it was a very different experience. My favourite thing about the trip was the sight-seeing as I think it is a once in a lifetime experience, I absolutely loved visiting the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Centre and the Statue Of Liberty, all good selfie opportunities! I didn't know many of the other students before the trip but I now consider many as friends. I particularly loved the shopping in NYC even though I did hold up the group on a few occasions when getting a bit too excited in Victoria Secret. I would definitely recommend taking a trip to ground zero 9/11 as I think it is nice to visit to show respect to all of those who were unfortunately lost on one of the most disastrous days NYC has ever had.
Harry Triffit: What I liked most about the New York trip was the amount of great sightseeing and the amount of time we got to go shopping. The trip was really well planned, I only wish it could have been longer so we could have visited the Natural History Museum. Maybe on another trip!
Samir Lachguer and Boyd Gidlow: We enjoyed the whole experience of the USA and loved every moment of it, particularly the Empire State Building and Rockerfeller Centre. The things we would improve would be the accommodation. It was brilliant to just go walking through Central Park, we would love to go on another trip like this as we still miss being in NYC.
